Eevee is one of the cutest and most popular Pokemon on the roster, making a first appearance all the way back in Generation I and being a mainstay of the series ever since.

Whether you are simply filling out your Pokedex or trying to put together a whole team of Eeveelutions, we’ve got everything you need to know below.

Here’s our full guide to all Eevee evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to get Eevee in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Eevee is a pretty rare Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, who only shows up in a few different places:

  • Northwest of Mesagoza (level 7 approx)
  • West of Cortondo (level 10 approx)
  • Northwest of Medali (level 30 approx).

Above, we’ve got a picture of the map that shows the specific areas. Note that you might be looking for quite a while, as Eevee can take a frustratingly long time to spawn. If you don’t see any by sweeping around these areas, you can go back into a town and come back out to refresh the Pokemon that have spawned.

How many Eeveelutions are there in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

There are 8 Eeveelutions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This is consistent with previous games and there are no new Eevee evolutions despite plenty of speculation about this in the buildup to release.

Eevee can evolve into the following Pokemon:

  • Flareon (Fire type)
  • Jolteon (Electric type)
  • Vaporeon (Water type)
  • Leafeon (Grass type)
  • Glaceon (Ice type)
  • Umbreon (Dark type)
  • Espeon (Psychic type)
  • Sylveon (Fairy type)

Some of these Eevee evolutions can only be triggered with specific evolution stones, but others can trigger accidentally if you aren’t careful, potentially causing an Eevee evolution you don’t want.

Every one of these can also be found in the wild. If you are simply trying to fill out your Pokedex you might be better off waiting until the end of the game when you may have naturally acquired several of these. This saves you catching or hatching 8 Eevees, which is not an easy task itself.

The locations for all of the the Eevee evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be covered in the relevant section below, so you catch them if you can!

All Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

We’ve got each different Eevee evolution covered below, explaining how to evolve Eevee as well as the location to catch them in Paldea.

jolteon eeveelution

Jolteon

Type: Electric

How to Evolve: Use a Thunder Stone on Eevee

Wild Location: Casseroya Lake, West Province Area Three (pictured below)

jolteon location

Eevee can only be evolved into Jolteon by giving it a Thunder Stone. These can be obtained in the following ways.

  • Purchased at Delibird Presents for 3,000 once you have got three gym badges.
  • Obtained as a Pokedex Reward for collecting 30 Pokemon
  • Can be won at Porto Marinada Auctions by bidding enough – the auctioneers will call out the available items as you go near the stalls
  • Randomly found on the floor in East Province, Area Three
  • One found at the top of the lighthouse in West Province, Area One

Jolteon is the easiest of all Eevee evolutions. Collecting 30 Pokemon is a straightforward task, so you’ll certainly get a Thunder Stone in your inventory before long. It’s also purchasable and has numerous other means of acquisition, so Jolteon should be one of the first Eeveelutions to enter your Pokedex.

flareon

Flareon

Type: Fire

How to Evolve: Use a Fire Stone on Eevee

Wild Location: Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, West Province Area Three (pictured below)

flareon location

Eevee can only be evolved into Flareon by giving it a Fire Stone. These can be obtained in a few different ways.

  • Purchased at Delibird Presents for 3,000 once you have got three gym badges.
  • Obtained as a Pokedex Reward for collecting 60 Pokemon
  • Randomly found on the floor around East Province, Area Three, north of Levincia

Flareon is also one of the easier Eevee evolutions, since the Fire Stone can be purchased relatively early in the game. It’s also likely you’ll catch 60 Pokemon without going out of your way, so this Eeveelution should be achievable.

pokemon scarlet violet eevee evolutions vaporeon

Vaporeon

Type: Water

How to Evolve: Use a Water Stone on Eevee

Wild Location: Casseroya Lake, Glaseado Mountain, Dalizapa Passage, Tagtree Thicket, North and South Province (pictured below)

vaporeon location

Eevee can only be evolved into Vaporeon by giving it a Water Stone. These can be obtained in the following ways.

  • Purchased at Delibird Presents for 3,000 once you have got three gym badges.
  • Obtained as a Pokedex Reward for collecting 80 Pokemon
  • Randomly found on beaches such as the one near Levincia
  • Found on the floor in Cascarrafa, near the water surrounding the gym

Vaporeaon is another evolution that should be comfortably achievable. The 80 Pokemon requirement for a Water Stone is harder than the others, but this can also be purchased as a back-up so this won’t prove very troublesome.

pokemon scarlet violet eevee evolutions leafeon

Leafeon

Type: Grass

How to Evolve: Use a Leaf Stone on Eevee

Wild Location: Casseroya Lake, West Province Area Three (pictured below)

leafeon location

Eevee can only be evolved into Leafeon by giving it a Leaf Stone. These can be obtained in the following ways.

  • Purchased at Delibird Presents for 3,000 once you have got three gym badges.
  • One can be found near the tent in the north of Tagtree Thicket
  • Randomly found on the floor in Tagtree Thicket

The Leaf Stone required for Leafeon is the final purchasable evolution stone that can be used on Eevee. Although this does not come as a Pokedex reward, you can still pick them up semi-regularly in Tagtree Thicket if you want to save your cash. There’s also a one-off guaranteed spawn in Tagtree Thicket.

glaceon evolution

Glaceon

Type: Ice

How to Evolve: Use an Ice Stone on Eevee

Wild Location: Glaseado Mountain (pictured below)

pokemon scarlet violet glaceon location

Eevee can only be evolved into Glaceon by giving it an Ice Stone. Unfortunately, Ice Stones are the only evolution stones required for Eevee that are not sold in shops.

These are the possible ways to obtain an Ice Stone:

  • Can be won at Porto Marinada Auctions by bidding enough – the auctioneers will call out the available items as you go near the stalls so wait until they mention an Ice Stone
  • Found randomly on Glaseado Mountain
  • One found near Dalizapa Passage Pokemon Centre by climbing up the rocks
  • One awarded for completing Blizzard course on the Snow Slope Run mini-game

Once you’ve got one, you can use it immediately without Eevee needing to reach any minimum level.

pokemon scarlet violet eevee evolution umbreon

Umbreon

Type: Dark

How to Evolve: Level up Eevee with a high friendship level during night when Eevee does not know a Fairy-type move

Wild Location: Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, East Province, South Province, North Province (pictured below)

pokemon scarlet violet umbreon location

Here’s where things are a little more complicated and this evolution can be triggered accidentally if you aren’t careful. The good news is that you won’t require any item to evolve Umbreon. You simply need to level up Eevee whilst increasing friendship by simply fighting with them and keeping them in your party. You can boost friendship by letting them run in Let’s Go mode, washing them and using a Soothe Bell.

You will need to reach a Friendship level of 160, which can roughly be checked via the Friendship Checker in Cascarrafa who is standing near a fountain in the middle of town.

The time of day is only relevant at the moment both conditions are met for the first time. As soon as you gain a level for Eevee after you have reached a high enough friendship level, it will evolve.

eeveelution espeon

Espeon

Type: Psychic

How to Evolve: Level up Eevee with a high friendship level during day when Eevee does not know a Fairy-type move

Wild Location: Glaseado Mountain, North Province Area Three (pictured below)

espeon location

The conditions for Espeon are exactly the same as Umbreon above, with the only difference being the time you manage to fulfil both conditions. Gain a level after boosting Friendship level to 160 without any Fairy-type moves being learnt, and if this occurs during the day you’ll get an Espeon.

Check Friendship progress via the Friendship Checker in Cascarrafa, and keep boosting it by fighting, levelling up and utilising Let’s Go mode, the Soothe Bell and giving a good wash.

The maximum level of Friendship is 255 so there’s quite a large margin for error with this one.

pokemon scarlet violet eevee evolution sylveon

Sylveon

Type: Fairy

How to Evolve: Level up Eevee with a high friendship level when Eevee knows at least one Fairy-type move

Wild Location: South Province Area Six, West Province Area Three (pictured below)

pokemon scarlet violet eevee evolutions sylveon location

Unlike Espeon and Umbreon, the time doesn’t matter here. As long as Eevee has been taught a Fairy-type move, it will evolve into Sylveon regardless of whether it is day or night.

Use the tactics discussed above to get Eevee’s Friendship level up to 160 and teach them a Fairy move by leveling them up or spending a TM. Gain a level once the friendship level is high and it’ll trigger another Eeveelution.

If you didn’t teach Eevee a Fairy move when you had the chance, you can change their moves in the menu and swap in an available Fairy one.

What is the best evolution for Eevee in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

With so many options, the best Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Eevee evolution will obviously depend on the situation. If there’s a particular type your Pokemon team is lacking, them Eevee can probably fill it in.

However, all things considered, the best Eevee evolution choice is probably Sylveon. As a Fairy-type Pokemon, Sylveon is super-effective against potentially-troublesome Fighting, Dark and Dragon types whilst only being weak to Steel and Poison. It is also immune to Dragon moves altogether.

Sylveon has solid all-round stats without being spectacular, but shines in Special Attack and Special Defence. Its Cute Charm ability can also cause infatuation which is handy if it comes off.

However, all Eeveelutions are decent Pokemon and you can check out the pictures above to see which of their designs you like best.
