Genshin Impact – Sakura Bloom locations and how to farm

sakura bloom guide

The Sakura Bloom is a Specialty item in Genshin Impact, with the following description: Blossoms from the Sacred Sakura at the Grand Narukami Shrine, filled with a fondness for Inazuma.

These items are extremely valuable if you are using certain characters, and can be tricky to acquire in the quantities required. You’ll need a lot of them, and they can only be acquired in a certain region.

Here’s everything you need to know about Sakura Blooms in Genshin Impact, including all Sakura Bloom locations, respawn time and how to farm them as effectively as possible.

What do Sakura Blooms do in Genshin Impact?

Sakura Blooms have a couple of uses, but the main one is that they are used to ascend Ayato and Ayaka past their level cap thresholds. A specific number of Sakura Blooms are required at each level cap, and to reach level 90 you will require a whopping 168 Sakura Blooms per character!

These are both extremely powerful characters, so if you plan on using them you will definitely need lots of Sakura Blooms, and should try and obtain them at every opportunity.

Otherwise, Sakura Blooms can be used in the recipes for the following foods:

  • Tricolor Dango (restores 30%-34% HP plus 600-1900 extra HP)
  • Sakura Mochi (revives character and heals 900-1500 HP)
  • Sakura Tempura (increase all characters’ shield strength by 20%-30% for five minutes)
  • Snow on the Hearth (revives character and restores 20% HP plus 1500 HP)
  • Summer Festival Fish (restores 40% HP plus 2,350 HP)
  • Sakura Shrimp Crackers (increase all characters’ max HP by 20-25% for five minutes)
  • Quiet Elegance (increase all characters’ shield strength by 35% for five minutes)

Sakura Blooms are also used to craft an Electoculus Resonance Stone or a Fake Fly Bait for fishing.

Generally, I wouldn’t recommend using the Sakura Blooms to craft items or food unless you have reached the level cap with Ayato and/or Ayaka. The relative rarity of these items, coupled with the large number required means you’d be advised not to waste them.

How to obtain Sakura Blooms

Sakura Blooms are petals that can be found fluttering around (pictured above). They can only be obtained after being struck with an Electro attack, which stops them in their tracks and allows you to approach them and pick them up.

Obviously the easiest way to do this would be to use an Electro character. However, you can also use an Electrograna (summoned with a Thunder Sakura Bough) to simply walk past and deliver the necessary burst of electricity. The same applies if your character is affected with Electro.

For ease of reference, these are currently the Electro characters in Genshin Impact:

5* Rarity Electro characters

  • Traveler (Electro)
  • Cyno
  • Keqing
  • Raiden
  • Yae Miko

4* Rarity Electro characters

  • Beidou
  • Dori
  • Fischl
  • Lisa
  • Razor
  • Sara
  • Shinobu

If you don’t have any of them, then change your Traveler’s element to obtain Sakura Blooms with them. However, Lisa can be obtained for free by completing the Sparks Amongst the Pages quest.

All Genshin Impact Sakura Bloom locations (map)

Sakura Blooms can only be obtained on Narukami Island in the Inazuma region. Most of them are around the area of the Grand Narukami Shrine and Mount Yougou.

There is a total of 75 different Sakura Bloom locations dotted around the area, which are depicted by the pink icons in the map below. To open the image in a new tab click here.

NOTE: One of these areas is inside Mount Yougou’s Underground Cavern, which can only be accessed when you have completed a series of quests around Konda Village. You must complete A Strange Story in Konda, Sacrificial Offering, Cleansing Defilement, Tanuki-Bayashi and and Yougou Cleansing. If you don’t want to bother completing these quests, there are still plenty of Sakura Blooms elsewhere. However, clearing this questline will reward you with a Spring Cleaning achievement along with plenty of Primogems, EXP, items and Mora along the way.

When do Sakura Blooms respawn?

Sakura Blooms will respawn after 48 hours. This is based on real-world time via the servers, so unfortunately no sneaky tricks like changing your settings or progressing in-game time will work.

There’s no way around it and just like other plant materials, you will simply have to wait for the two days to pass in order for the Sakura Blooms to respawn within your own game.

Can you buy Sakura Blooms in Genshin Impact?

Here’s the bad news – no shops currently sell Sakura Blooms, so you cannot buy them.

This leaves you no choice but to seek them out in the wild, where they are limited to the 75 prescribed spawn points.

How to farm Sakura Blooms in Genshin Impact

There are only so many ways to farm Sakura Blooms available here. Start by completing a lap of the entire island and scoop up as many as you can within the shortest timeframe possible. Once this is done, your only options are to wait for 48 hours before doing it again, or entering a co-op world and finding them there instead.

You can unlock co-op mode at adventure level 16, but Sakura Blooms can only be obtained by one member of the co-op party at a time.

I would recommend starting in Inazuma City, making your way west before heading to Chinju Forest and collecting the Sakura Blooms here. Go north to Kamisato Estate and clear the area before teleporting to Grand Narukami Shrine. Finally, go north to the Court of Flowing Sand and get as many possible from the northern area. This route will enable you to grab the vast majority of the Sakura Blooms without the need to detour. Don’t sweat it too much if you don’t get the whole amount in one go.

One character that can assist with your Sakura Bloom farming (and any farming in the rea for that matter) is Gorou, who has the ‘Seeker of Shinies’ passive talent. This displays nearby resources unique to Inazuma on the mini-map. Although we have the locations above, it’s still handy to see in-game when you are getting close.

Other than Gorou, it could also be worth putting two Wind characters in your party which will boost your movement speed along with slowing stamina depletion, enabling you to collect the Sakura Blooms as quickly as possible.

And that’s all there is to it. Hopefully our Genshin Impact Sakura Blooms locations and farming guide will assist you in obtaining these elusive items and ascending your heroes towards their max level.
